PR: Celtic feast Lughnasad

Visit an open-air musem Celtic Land (Země Keltů) in Nasavrky and have a good time at Lughnasad – festival of summer and harvest. International festival of Celtic culture takes place on 29-30 of July 2023.

 This year´s 17th edition of the festival will bring musical performances, lectures, workshops, combat demonstrations and many more. Celts, Romans, Germans, and newly even Dacians will settle in the oppidum. Children and adults may participate in games and competitions, try out various crafts, dances, take a look at the expanding oppidum and find out how our ancestors lived, how did they built their homes, what did they eat or wear. A procession together with Lugghnasad ritual represent the peak of Saturday´s historical programme, where Celts will celebrate the harvest and remember the spiritual dimension of our ancestor´s lives. However, this is not how the festival ends, the programme continues with musical evening – for both days there will be Czech and foreign bands filling the Celtic Land with their sounds.

This year´s edition completes the three-year historical programme „Walking in footprints of our ancestors in ancient Europe“ and bring us to the land of today´s Slovakia and Hungary, where the Boii and Dacian tribes used to live 2 000 years ago. Visitors may look forward to experience a grand finale of the complicated destiny of Boii tribal chief Biatec. Last year, Biatec has return to his tribe and with the help of Rome, he did strengthen his position within his community. 

Spectacular fire show will light up the evening programme, and complete the story of the celtic tribal chief. This story will be newly narrated by comic book, which will be ceremonially launched during the festival. It is a first comic book made as a part of festival Lughnasad and visitors will have a chance to buy it and get autographs from the main characters of the story. This grand finale will be also related to „Find your inner Celt“, a competition for chidren as well as for adults.

Visitors may await various refreshments and drinks in the food court of the festival, traditional historical market, where they may find not only hand-crafted products but new festival merchandise as well. It will be comprised of t-shirts with new design, cups, outdoor mugs or festival mead.

All the neccessary information may be found in festival application which serves the visitors to easily access the programme and places in the area of festival. Guarded lockable boxes are at the visitor´s disposal any time during the festival. Because of the expanding number of visitors, we are preparing bigger space for lectures.

Even though we are going to say goodbye to the tribal chief Biatec, we are not saying goodbye to the whole festival. Organisers of the festival are already working on the new theme for the following edition, which promises a lot of fun.
